U julu biramo - Berba

Santorini, one of the oldest wine-growing regions in the world. This island stands out with a rich history of vine cultivation spanning thirty-four centuries. Shaped by volcanic activity, the island features rocky terrain and specific soil rich in minerals. Volcanic ash covering the ground retains moisture and nutrients, providing ideal conditions for grape cultivation. Volcanic lava not only shaped Santorini’s geographic landscape but also contributed to the unique characteristics of the wines produced on the island.

Volcanic lava not only shaped Santorini’s geographic landscape but also contributed to the unique characteristics of the wines produced on the island. Grape varieties thrive due to deep and strong roots, allowing the vines to extract all necessary minerals and nutrients. These conditions not only ensure robust vines but also contribute to the distinctive aromas that make Santorini wines exceptionally recognizable and authentic on the global wine scene. In honor of the island’s long history of viticulture, the Artemis Karamolegos winery has bestowed the symbolic label “34”.

Symbol “34”

Many factors contribute to the authentic character of this wine. From the specific terroir and vineyards over twenty years old to the unique production methods. Cuvée Assyrtiko captivates with its golden-yellow color reflecting the richness of minerals from the island’s volcanic soil. Refreshing, with fruity and herbal aromas elegantly intertwining, it offers complexity and depth that only wines from the finest vineyard locations can provide. Vineyard sites in the villages of Pyrgos, Exo Gonia, Fira, Akrotiri, and Megalochori yield wines of creamy texture with crisp acidity. In the bottle, it delivers a balance between rich flavor and refreshing vivacity. Aging on fine lees lasts at least eight months, contributing to an oily, buttery sensation that rounds out Assyrtiko’s sharp acidity. An additional 10% of the wine aged in oak barrels, reused for a third time, brings added complexity and depth of flavor.
